By Brenda Discher, SVP, Strategy & Marketing, Siemens Digital Industries SoftwareSiemens is excited to kick off 2023 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. As the world’s most influential technology event, CES has become the proving ground for breakthrough technologies and global innovators alike. With more than 175 years of industrial heritage and industry-leading hardware and software, no other company can connect the real and digital worlds like Siemens. CES is a natural arena for Siemens to demonstrate how our technology is used to turn today’s ideas into tomorrow’s products and experiences, enabling our customers to transform themselves, their industries and the world around us.
Our technology is behind so many of the things that people use every day; from the vehicles we drive and trains we ride, to the consumer goods we carry in our pockets and use in our homes, from the food and beverages that fuel us, to transportation, healthcare, energy and beyond.
At CES 2023, we will be showing the power of the Siemens Xcelerator open business platform, the world’s most comprehensive Digital Twin and how our partners and customers are transforming the everyday using Siemens hardware and software to bring their ideas to reality. A few of the stories we’ll be highlighting at CES include:
Space Perspective, the world’s only carbon-neutral luxury space flight experience company, is on a mission to share the transformative power of space travel with as many people as possible. This is a truly accessible way to space with no rockets, no g-forces, weightlessness or rigorous training needed. Lifted by a SpaceBalloon™ as large as a football stadium, Space Perspective’s pressurized capsule, named Spaceship Neptune, takes eight explorers on a gentle 6-hour journey to space where they will have the quintessential astronaut experience – seeing the blackness of space above and the brilliant glow of the earth below.
Designing Space Perspective’s innovative capsule required a modern suite of tools to maximize its comfort, safety, and sustainability from design and testing to production. With the help of Siemens Xcelerator, Space Perspective developed a comprehensive digital twin to visualize and test the capsule and its systems, and accelerate processes to create the world’s safest, most comfortable, and most sustainable way to space.
At CES, visitors to the Siemens booth will be able to learn more about our innovative partnership and what it’s like to travel to space in a space balloon. They’ll also have the chance to win a trip to Florida to visit the Space Coast of the United States and Space Perspective HQ.
Nemo’s Garden dreamed of the viability of cultivating herbs, fruit and vegetables underwater by engineering an innovative sub-aqua biosphere, a unique type of underwater greenhouse to harness the positive environmental factors of the ocean to create an environment ideal for crop cultivation. The team used Siemens Xcelerator to build a digital twin of the biosphere that encompasses its design evolution and the simulation and optimization of the growing conditions within it.
Now the Nemo’s Garden team is no longer limited by weather conditions, seasonality and short growing seasons or limitations on diving and monitoring. Adaptations to the biospheres can be tested in the virtual world, enabling the team to refine the design at a massively accelerated rate and now use a sustainable, fully digital, automated approach using the same technology Siemens has used to automate traditional farming.
In addition to showing how Siemens is opening new frontiers for agriculture underwater, we will also showcase how our technology is enabling vertical farming to dramatically scale.
These are just a few examples of how Siemens technology is transforming the everyday, by delivering unprecedented innovation across our portfolio of hardware, software and cloud services to help turn our customers’ visions into reality.
We want our customers to thrive and make their digital transformation easy. At CES, we will demonstrate how openness in ecosystems and technology helps our customers benefit from the ability bring the real and the digital worlds together, to take ideas from dreams to reality, and how the open-easy-flexible vision of Siemens Xcelerator allows them to turn complexity into competitive advantage.
